It is hard to believe that 2020 is drawing to a close. No-one could have predicted the year that we have had and the challenges that we have faced. We’ve had a few cold mornings in recent days and although snow has been forecast, it hasn’t yet settled. There have been a couple of mornings where we’ve all had to de-ice the car before the morning commute. It is therefore a good time to remind owners and occupiers of properties to ensure that they are taking all the necessary precautions in respect of empty properties or properties which are likely to be unoccupied due to either Christmas holiday / shutdowns or as a result of Covid restrictions

The last few months have had to see us adapt to new working patterns and routines, but during that time we have continued to work hard for our clients across a wide variety of commercial property instructions. Having spent the majority of the last four months working from home our focus now is to spend the majority of our time working from the office.

BUSINESS RATES SUSPENDED FOR MANY SMALL BUSINESSES

The Chancellor, Rishin Sunak, announced in the Budget yesterday a significant change to Business Rates with a positive impact for many small businesses. In short, for shops, cinemas, restaurants and music venues together with museums, art galleries, theatres and small hotels and B&B’s no business rates will be payable in the coming year if their rateable value is less than £51,000.
