We have been instructed by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside to deal with the sale of the former Queens Gardens Police Station in Hull City Centre. Director Carl Bradley is taking the lead on the marketing and said “this is an exciting and strategic piece of property in the centre of Hull. In the short period of time the building has been on the market we have already received expressions of interest from a number of developers. Whilst no-one at this stage is giving a firm commitment to their proposed plans potential alternative uses which have been discussed include full refurbishment of the existing building for office or residential use or a comprehensive redevelopment of the site to include some retail and leisure uses. Time will obviously tell and we look forward to discussing the site with potential buyers. I am very mindful of the fact that the aspirations for Hull City Centre are high ahead of UK City of Culture in 2017 and no doubt the companies interested in the building will be wanting to create a development that will fit in with those plans. The building itself extends to over 10,000 sq m on four floors and sits on a site of approximately 1.38 acres.”
In announcing the decision to sell the property Matthew Grove, Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside said “in recent years some Humberside Police buildings have become outdated and costly to maintain and new energy efficient developments such as Clough Road Police Station in Hull and the Melton facility have replaced them. I have an obligation to obtain best value for money for the site and by marketing it now I am hoping that we find a buyer as soon as possible at the right price, to ensure the site is quickly brought back in to use ahead of the City of Culture celebrations.”
